American journalist Constance Yu-Hwa Chung was born on August 20, 1946.

Chung first interviewed Claus von Bülow and U.S. Representative Gary Condit following Chandra Levy’s disappearance. She also interviewed basketball legend Magic Johnson, who admitted to being HIV-positive. She became the second female co-anchor of a CBS Nightly News organization report in 1993.

Chung was born in Washington, D.C., less than a year after her family left China. She is the youngest of ten children. She was brought up in DC; her dad, William Ling Chung, was a knowledge official for the Chinese Patriot Government, and five of her kin kicked the bucket during the conflict.

After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1969, she went on to earn a degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.
