André Rieu did not attend his mother’s funeral in 2019.

He has said that he did not have a close relationship with his mother and that he did not feel comfortable attending the funeral.

In an interview with Weekend Magazine in December 2020, Rieu said: “I did not have a relationship with my mother. I did not attend her funeral either.” He went on to say that he “had a lot of problems with my mother” and that he “did not feel comfortable” at the funeral.

Rieu’s mother, Alice Rieu-Kleyntjens, died on February 14, 2019, at the age of 92. She was a talented musician herself, and she was always supportive of her son’s musical career. However, Rieu has said that their relationship was complicated and that they did not always see eye to eye.

It is unclear what caused the rift between Rieu and his mother. However, it is clear that the relationship was not always easy. Rieu’s decision not to attend his mother’s funeral was a personal one, and it is understandable that he would want to respect his own feelings in this situation.
