Pereira has also achieved great success in kickboxing, having been a former Glory middleweight and light heavyweight champion, making him the only fighter to have held both Glory titles simultaneously. With a track record of victories in various promotions such as It’s Showtime and SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship, Pereira has proven his worth as a top fighter in the world.
Pereira started his career in kickboxing and was ranked number 1 in both the middleweight and light heavyweight categories as of February 2021. Despite losing to Artem Levin in the quarter-finals of the Glory 17: Los Angeles – Last Man Standing middleweight tournament in June 2014, Pereira went on to win his next five fights, including two victories against Israel Adesanya, who would later become a UFC Middleweight champion.
He won the Glory Middleweight title with a unanimous decision win against Simon Marcus at Glory 46: China in 2017 and has continued to do well in both mixed martial arts and kickboxing arenas ever since.
Pereira’s path to success hasn’t been easy. He grew up in a favela and dropped out of middle school at the age of 12 to work in a tire shop. Pereira struggled with addiction and became an alcoholic before turning his life around by taking up kickboxing in 2009.
