Trevor May is currently a relief pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 4th round of the 2008 amateur draft out of high school.

May worked his way up through the Phillies’ minor league system as a starting pitcher until he was traded to the Minnesota Twins in 2012.

Trevor May Career

It was with the Twins that May made his MLB debut in 2014. He split time between the rotation and bullpen his first few seasons before settling into a full-time relief role.

His best year with Minnesota came in 2016 when he recorded a 3.15 ERA with 16 saves over 67 games. May relied on a mid-90s fastball, sharp slider, and effective changeup to find success out of the bullpen.

After six seasons with the Twins, May hit free agency following 2019 and signed a two-year deal with the New York Mets. He struggled with injuries during the shortened 2020 season but bounced back strong in 2021.

Serving as a key late-inning option, May posted a 3.59 ERA with 9 saves over 62 appearances for the Mets.

One thing that makes May unique is his interest in gaming and technology off the field. He is an avid live streamer on Twitch, often broadcasting himself playing Fortnite and other games for his many followers. May enjoys connecting with fans through his streams and has built a prominent personal brand around gaming.

Entering his age-33 season in 2023, May will look to continue his late-inning success for a talented Mets team. Though no longer able to touch 100 mph, he can still run his fastball up to 97 mph with sharp breaking stuff.

May uses an analytical approach on the mound, leveraging metrics and feedback to optimize his performance.

With his lively personality and reputation as a clubhouse leader, May has become a fan favourite both on and off the field. He figures to play an important part in the Mets’ bullpen as the team hopes to contend for a World Series title.

As long as he stays healthy, May should continue serving as a dependable high-leverage relief option for at least the next couple of seasons.

Trevor May Wife

Trevor May has been married to his wife Kate Borgnes since November 2018. The two met through mutual friends while May was playing for the Minnesota Twins.

Kate is a teacher and kept their relationship low-key at first, not appearing publicly with May until nearly a year after they started dating. While Trevor May travels and plays baseball during the MLB season, Kate maintains their home in Arizona.

Trevor May Wife Kate Borgnes

She has supported May’s passion for gaming and technology, even making cameos in some of his live streams. Kate accompanied her husband when he signed with the New York Mets, splitting time between Arizona and New York to stay connected.

By all accounts, Kate has been a grounding presence for May throughout his baseball career. She offers him a calm, stable home life off the field while not interfering with his focus on pitching performance.

May has credited his wife with helping him find a balance between his professional and personal endeavours.

While both highly driven, Kate and Trevor May have made their marriage a true partnership. Kate understands the demands of May’s baseball schedule but still finds ways to be actively involved and engaged in his interests.

Her confidence allows May to maximally thrive both on and off the mound with her full support. They value their privacy but partners like Kate are invaluable for pro athletes like Trevor May.
