And Lamar’s character on the show basically reflects very similar issues, though Layton Simon’s true status has yet to be revealed.

Layton Simon Biography

Layton Simon remains a mystery, with scant information about his background and life details.

Nonetheless, in an interview on the Original Gangsters podcast, Layton Simon delves into his childhood and interests.

He expresses his passion for playing baseball in Detroit and reminisces about a 1970s encounter with a man named Dirty Diamond on his way to a game.

Dirty Diamond’s impressive 20-carat ring sparks Layton’s curiosity, prompting him to inquire about its origins.

This inquiry leads to the discovery of Harold Stinson’s name and his substantial involvement in the pre-Flenory brothers drug trade scene.

Intrigued by Harold’s illicit dealings, Layton embarks on his entrepreneurial journey at the remarkably young age of 14.

Astonishingly, by age 15, he amasses enough wealth to purchase a brand-new 1973 Cadillac.

During his teenage years, Layton rapidly climbs the ranks in the world of drug dealing, ultimately finding himself on the streets of southwestern Detroit.

As his influence grows, Layton becomes a rival to Big Meech and Southwest T, both competing for territorial control.

However, when law enforcement targets Layton’s residence, he strategically chooses to depart,

Allowing the Flenory brothers to consolidate their dominance in the streets.

The characters in BMF predominantly draw inspiration from real figures associated with the Flenory brothers.

Many speculate that Lamar’s character is influenced by Layton Simon,

Not only due to name and role similarities but also because of Lamar’s portrayal of mental health challenges.

Layton’s own history includes a period in a psychiatric ward during the 1980s, mirroring the issues depicted in Lamar’s character on the show.

The BMF series, an abbreviation for Black Mafia Family, draws its inspiration from the true story of two brothers who emerged from the deteriorating streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s.

They went on to establish one of the most influential crime families in American history.

Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory’s charismatic leadership, combined with Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business acumen,

propelled their fraternal partnership beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip hop, making them global icons.

This is a story that encompasses themes of love, betrayal, and the pursuit of the American dream through thug capitalism.
