What is the story of Fire Country?

Fire Country, created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater, features Bode Donovan, a juvenile prisoner with a troubling background. He offers the California Conservation Camp Program, in which inmates assist the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known as Cal Fire, in the hopes of redeeming themselves and shortening his jail term.

According to the show’s formal synopsis:

“Poor decisions do not equal a terrible guy. That’s what Bode Donavan has been informed. He’s been attempting to persuade himself of it as well, despite being halfway through a five-year sentence.”

It goes on to say:

“He has the opportunity to demonstrate this by participating in an unusual prison-release program in which inmates are partnered with firemen fighting Northern California wildfires in return for shortened terms. When Bode is allocated to the program in his remote birthplace, where all of his problems started, the fire is cranked up.”

Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and Kristie Anne Reed are among the show’s executive producers. Fire Country debuted on October 7, 2022, and was extended for a second season in January 2023.
