EcoMap Technologies, a digital startup based in Baltimore, is owned by Pava LaPere. She was born to parents, Frank Lapere and Carolina Lapere.

Pava Lapere bio and family

She has a brother called Nico Lapere. Pava set up the company at age 21 when she was still a student at Johns Hopkins University. The company raised $7 million in funding over the past 18 months thanks to her leadership. Before starting EcoMap Technologies, she formed Innov8MD, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to aiding young entrepreneurs there.

Her final year at Hopkins saw her change her major from computer science, which she had studied for the first three years. As an entrepreneur, she wanted to address societal issues, and she reasoned that starting a business without conducting market research would be equivalent to not earning a sociology degree. While an undergraduate at Hopkins, Pava started a non-profit organisation called TCO Labs and a student incubator called The Hatchery. During the first five years of its existence, EcoMap faced challenges.

Her business was started with the intention of making ecological knowledge and cutting-edge ecosystem digitization technology accessible to everyone. Pava was included on the Forbes 30 under 30 list earlier this year for her social influence.

Baltimore’s 40 Under 40 and Maryland’s 25 Under 25 lists both praised her for her ingenuity. Despite Pava having a brief life, she managed to accomplish a lot. Her $7 million net worth served as evidence of her achievement, yet many people are shocked and unconsolable by the terrible circumstances surrounding her passing. The Aspen Institute, Meta, the WXR Fund and the T.Rowe Price Foundation are among her well-known clients.

Pava Lapere Age

At the time of her death, Pava LaPere was 26 years old.

Pava Lapere Death

LaPere, who served as the CEO of EcoMap Technologies, was reported missing on Monday, September 25, 2023. Police said she was later discovered with a blunt head injury. Although it had been reported that she had been discovered dead inside her lavish Mount Vernon apartment, people familiar with the investigation told the Baltimore Banner that her body had actually been located on the roof of the structure, horribly battered and only half-dressed.

After being battered to death, Pava LaPere’s body was found on the top of her posh Baltimore apartment building. EcoMap wrote, “Pava was not only the visionary force behind EcoMap but was also a deeply compassionate and dedicated leader. Her untiring commitment to our company, to Baltimore, to amplifying the critical work of ecosystems across the country, and to building a deeply inclusive culture as a leader, friend, and partner set a standard for leadership, and her legacy will live on through the work we continue to do.”

The people who knew her and worked with her have described Pava as one of the town’s “brightest stars” and a “compassionate visionary force.” In connection with the murder of Pava LaPere, a warrant had been issued for a 32-year-old man, Jason Billingsley. Billingsley is a suspect in at least one further crime, according to acting police commissioner, Richard Worley.

Billingsley is known to have a significant criminal history that dates back to 2009. While authorities continue their extensive manhunt, he is still at large. The culprit, who is 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 305 pounds, was given a 30-year prison term in 2015 but was released nine years later, in October 2022. Why he was released so quickly is unknown.
