Xochitl Gomez career

In 2018, Gomez made her television debut on the sitcom Raven’s Home on the Disney Channel. She received a Young Artist Award for Supporting Teen Artist for her role in the 2019 film Shadow Wolves, in which she also starred.

Gomez played Dawn Schafer in the March 2020 television version of The Baby-Sitters Club, which was based on the same-titled novel series by Ann M. Martin.

When it debuted on July 3, 2020, on Netflix, the series won praise from critics. According to Entertainment Weekly, “Gomez delivers Dawn’s social-justice-themed dialogue with heartfelt frankness.”

Because Gomez was filming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), Netflix had to rec ast her character for the second season of the show in March 2021.

In the Multiverse of Madness, Gomez played America Chavez in the film Doctor Strange. In February 2020, at the age of 13, she made her first audition for the role of America, who was then eighteen.

Later on, the role was rewritten as a teenage girl. Gomez trained in kickboxing, martial arts, and stunts “every other day for hours” with the hopes of “blowing minds” during a possible callback.

Gomez got a callback six months after her first audition, and she had a screen test with Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Stephen Strange. Two days later, she was cast.

Gomez was one of the youngest performers to play a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released. Gomez was 16 years old at the time.

The movie was a financial triumph, taking in more than $955 million globally. Empire wrote that Gomez “brings impressive warmth and feeling” to the role despite the film’s mixed reviews.

She was chosen to star with Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the science fiction thriller Ursa Major in August 2022. Gomez joined the 32nd season of Dancing With the Stars in 2023, where she was paired with professional dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy.

Gomez was the youngest star to appear that season, at the age of 17. Gomez and Chmerkovskiy took first place in the season finale on December 5 and were given the first-ever Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

After two weeks of competition, Gomez and Chmerkovskiy achieved a perfect score of 120 out of 120, finishing at the top of the scoreboard for the whole season.
