At just fourteen years of age, Jaya announced that she was a transgender male. She introduced herself as Jay and was waiting for gender reassignment surgery. Jaya's family welcomed her transition, which included her divorced mother, Andrea, and older sister, Joann. Even at just twelve years of age, she had started wearing a chest binder and taking hormones.

Changed From Trans To Non-Binary

Later, when Jaya was sixteen, she came out as a queer person to her family and explained that she was attracted to girls. There was no talk of reassignment surgery, and Jaah explained that she is comfortable with all gender pronouns.

Jaya said:

I always felt like I had to make a choice. I knew that I was a girl who liked other girls. But because of what I was taught, I felt like the only way you could like another girl is if you were a boy.

In a 2019 interview with Paper magazine, Jaah was very public about her gender identity and sexual orientation. She explained herself to be a lesbian and was not looking for labels.

R. Kelly's Ilegal Marriage to Aaliyah: His DownFall

Before marrying Andrea, R. Kelly was in an illegitimate marriage with the late star Aaliyah. This marriage was illegal as Aaliyah was just fifteen then, and they lied about her age on their marriage registration in 1994.

Further, this marriage was the source of many legal issues as Kelly had to pay one of his first accusers six figures to avoid a lawsuit. However, it was later accused of bribery in the marriage process. Aaliyah's family annulled the marriage in 1995, and Aaliyah herself filed to delete the record in 1997.

And now R. Kelly has been sentenced to thirty years in prison by the federal court of Brooklyn for child pornography and exploitation charges. He was found guilty of three counts of producing child pornography and three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
