Karen Vieth Edgar is the wife of Bob Knight. Karen Vieth Edgar’s husband Knight is an American former basketball coach. Nicknamed “the General“, Knight won 902 NCAA Division I men’s college basketball games, a record at the time of his retirement, and currently fifth all-time, behind his former player and assistant coach Mike Krzyzewski of Duke, Roy Williams, Bob Huggins, and Jim Boeheim of Syracuse, of which Krzyzewski, Huggins, and Boeheim are still active.

Karen Vieth Edgar’s husband, Knight is best known as the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers from 1971 to 2000. He also coached at Texas Tech (2001–2008) and at Army (1965–1971).

Karen Vieth Edgar is the second woman Knight got married to. Before Karen, Knight married the former Nancy Falk on April 17, 1963. They had two sons, Tim and Pat, but the couple divorced in 1985.

Bob’s son, Pat played at Indiana from 1991 to 1995 and served as head coach at Lamar from the time of his father’s retirement until he was dismissed in 2014. Pat Knight coached Texas Tech after his father’s retirement before he moved to Lamar.

In 1988, Knight married his second wife, Karen Vieth Edgar, a former Oklahoma high school basketball coach.

Knight, having won three NCAA championships by that time, hardly any sports or basketball fan hadn’t heard of him. So, it would make sense for such a man’s wedding to be the talk of the town, right?

Well, despite the answer being obvious, what Karen Vieth Edgar’s husband did was quite the opposite. At the time, Bob Knight had just gotten his Mexico job and was all over the media. It seems that he did not want to face it again, which, if his wedding was announced, was sure to get him a whole lot more of this unwanted attention.

Karen Vieth Edgar’s to-be husband, Bob met his old friend, Methodist Bishop Leroy Hodapp, and his wedding officially happened at Hoadapp’s office. The wedding happened on May 23, 1988, and the only other person to have attended Bob Knight’s wedding was Hilda Van Arsdale. The ceremony took place at Indiana Interchurch Center on May 23.

“There was no attempt to keep it secret. But Bob wanted to keep it private, without the press, so we did it here in my office,” Bishop Hodapp said. “He had just gotten all that attention about the New Mexico job and really didn’t want to deal with it again.”

The man didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention to himself and his new bride, Karen Vieth Edgar. Knight was 47, and his wife Edgar was 41 at the time of their marriage. Karen Vieth Edgar and Bobby Knight have been married for 33 years since 23rd May 1988.

How did the two love birds meet and started their relationship? Karen Vieth Edgar used to be a winning coach and, during her marriage, already had three Oklahoma Basketball titles. This was all during her 14 year time at Lomega High School, which was in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma. With such an achievement and that of Knight, the two definitely have a lot to talk about and share. It was no wonder that Bob Knight’s heart, which was in perfect control, saw an unexpected steal.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Karen Vieth Knight resigned for personal reasons in 1987, after coaching Lomega to Oklahoma State Championships in 1982, 1983, and 1987.

Does Karen Vieth Edgar and her husband Have Kids Of Their Own?

After Bob Knight’s divorce from Nancy Lou Falk, he finally managed to score a full-court basket shot by getting married to the love of his life Karen Vieth Edgar. There was never any news of Karen and Bob Knight’s children. The couple has no known children. But they still have Pat Knight and Tim Knight to call as their kids. They are Bob Knight’s kids from his previous relationship, and despite this fact, it seems that the family keeps living a wonderful life.

After getting together in 1988, Bob Knight’s wife makes sure to keep her husband happy. And with Bob Knight’s net worth being $15 million, the two are probably living a comfortable life. The couple’s married life is unlike any other, and it doesn’t seem like it will come to an end any time soon, or ever in that matter.
