Since Julio’s father abandoned the family when he was five years old, his mother was responsible for raising both Julio and his brother. The football player’s mother had to work long hours at a fast food restaurant to support her sons due to the stress brought on by his father’s absence.

The day his father departed, 5-year-old Julio reportedly promised his mother that everything would be well for them and that he would become a football player, according to his mother who talked to USA Today.
