Bryan Kohberger is a 28-year-old former Ph.D. student in criminology at Washington State University, who has been charged with the murders of four University of Idaho students in November 2022. He was arrested at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania in December 2022, and is currently awaiting trial in Idaho. His case has attracted national attention and media coverage, as well as public curiosity and speculation. One of the questions that has been raised online is whether Bryan Kohberger is Jewish or not.

The Origin of the Question

The question of Bryan Kohberger’s religion emerged on social media, where some users posted comments and memes suggesting that he was Jewish. Some of these posts were based on his name, which some people assumed was of Jewish origin. Some of these posts were also based on his appearance, such as his hair, his nose, and his glasses. Some of these posts were meant to be jokes, while others were meant to be insults or accusations.

The question also spread to some websites and blogs, where some writers and commentators speculated about his religious identity, and compared him to other Jewish criminals, such as Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, and Bernie Madoff. Some of these articles were based on facts, while others were based on opinions or prejudices.

The Answer to the Question

The answer to the question of whether Bryan Kohberger is Jewish or not is no. He is not Jewish, and has never identified as such. He was born and raised in a Christian family, and attended a Catholic university. He has also expressed his Christian beliefs and values in his writings and communications.

According to Sportskeeda, Bryan Kohberger’s name is not Jewish, but Germanic and Austrian. The website quoted a Twitter user who said: “Bryan is a non-Jewish spelling. No Jew is named Christopher. Kohberger is Germanic, not Jewish.” The website also noted that Bryan’s middle name, Christopher, indicates a Christian family.

According to Newsweek, Bryan Kohberger has been attending Mass while in jail. The website quoted a NewsNation reporter who said: “Apparently he is given the opportunity to go to Mass on Sundays. He has conversations there with the priest. What he’s talking about, we don’t know but we’ve confirmed that he is going to Mass.”

According to Distractify, Bryan Kohberger’s parents are also Christians. The website said that his father, Ed Kohberger, is a Catholic, while his mother, Maryann Kohberger, is a Protestant. The website also said that Bryan’s parents divorced in 2010, after 25 years of marriage.

The Conclusion

The question of whether Bryan Kohberger is Jewish or not is a false and irrelevant one, that has no basis in reality. He is not Jewish, and has never claimed to be. He is a Christian, who has lived and practiced his faith as he sees fit. He is also a murder suspect, who has been accused of a heinous crime, and who will face justice in a court of law. His religion has nothing to do with his actions, and should not be used to judge or stereotype him. He is Bryan Kohberger, and he is innocent until proven guilty.
