False Reports Assert that Hooters Will Rename and Close Its Restaurants in 2022.
James Holden According to a number of sources, Hooters will rebrand and close its restaurants in 2022. The chain, however, has deemed the assertions to be wholly baseless. Numerous media publications have reported that Hooters is closing stores as a result of millennials’ shifting preferences, but these claims are untrue rumors.
Here is what Hooters had to say about the prank and how it relates to a 2017 news article.
Fake Claim Says Hooters Is Rebranding in 2022
After various articles suggested that restaurants will close owing to millennials’ varied interests, social media users are concerned about the future of Hooters. The chain would “rebrand” its stores, according to the original allegation from the popular Twitter account Daily Loud, because millennials “aren’t that into breasts.”
According to a new survey, millennials “aren’t that interested boobs,” hence Hooters is closing and rebranding, the publication stated. Hooters’ Twitter account shut down the hoax and wrote on Wednesday, “This is the fakest news that has ever news,” in response to a revived Complex piece.

The Report Originally Appeared in 2017
The false assertions were based on a Business Insider piece from 2017 that claimed the business has a long history of having trouble luring millennial customers.
According to the survey, sales at Hooters restaurants decreased by 7% between 2012 and 2016.
Even though it wasn’t mentioned in the article, a survey revealed that millennials were less attracted to breasts than their parents were.
The report also mentioned that the restaurant had updated its interior design and food “in an effort to draw in younger clientele and female customers.”
