Dorian Glenn’s Statement on Damar Hamlin

On January 3, Hamlin remained at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center while sedated and on a ventilator. According to his uncle Dorrian Glen, Hamlin was placed on his stomach to help take the pressure off his lungs and his condition was “trending upwards.” In a statement, this is what Dorian Glenn has to say concerning the accident.

“He’s sustained some damage to his lungs, and they’re working to try to remedy that, and they’ve got him on a ventilator to help with the breathing, just to take some of the strain off his lungs so they can heal and recuperate,”

“We were in Pittsburgh watching it on TV, and his little brother was there with us and when he saw his brother drop like that, and when I tell you I’ve never seen him cry or scream like that,” Glenn said. “We were trying to calm him down, like yo, it’s OK, you know, he’s going to get back up, he’ll be back in the game, you know. The next thing you know, it’s ten minutes later, they’re doing chest compressions.”

“Just to know like my nephew basically died on the field, and they brought him back to life. I mean that’s just heartbreaking, and to see all those grown men crying and all the emotion, man. It just really was a gut punch, man,”

“I’m just glad he’s still alive and able to fight and try to get better and recover,” Glenn said.
