Kearney has held a significant role in the Massachusetts media landscape, devoting himself to covering the Karen Read case on a consistent basis.

Who is Aidan Kearney?

Kearney has stirred up controversy in recent months by blogging frequently about Read’s murder case. Aidan Kearney, the Holden man behind the contentious “Turtleboy” news blog, appeared in court on Wednesday to face witness intimidation and conspiracy charges related to his coverage of Karen Read’s murder case.

He has also rallied a group of supporters who are adamant that Read, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her partner, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, is involved in a covert operation within the town of Canton.

Aidan Kearney was formally charged with intimidating witnesses, jurors, police officers, and court officials at his arraignment in Stoughton District Court.

The presiding judge issued an order requiring Kearney to keep a specific distance and avoid any interaction with the people he is accused of intimidating.

This group included the state police investigator in charge of the O’Keefe case, as well as numerous others who were present at the scene when O’Keefe’s lifeless body was discovered.

Read is accused of the deadly incident that occurred on January 29, 2022, resulting in O’Keefe’s death. According to police, she reportedly struck O’Keefe with her SUV while dropping him off at a house party in Canton, killing him.

This terrible incident occurred following an altercation that occurred during a night out at the bar. Read’s legal team has claimed that someone other than her must have been responsible for O’Keefe’s death and has accused the government of attempting to conceal the truth.

The special prosecutors handling the case presented evidence from Kearney’s “Canton Coverup” investigation, citing excerpts from YouTube videos and articles he published.

As of Tuesday, Kearney had authored 179 articles related to this investigation on his website. The prosecutors alleged that Kearney, on multiple occasions, expressed his intention to shape public opinion through his reporting, with the goal of influencing the potential jurors for Read’s forthcoming trial.

Additionally, they claimed that Kearney publicly disclosed the phone numbers of the lead investigator and the investigator’s spouse, leading to their harassment.

In solidarity with Karen Read, Kearney wore a hooded sweatshirt with the phrase “Free Karen Read” and was led into the courtroom in handcuffs on the morning of his arraignment.

When challenged with inquiries about his arrest, Kearney remained unconcerned and made a reference to a car he claims is linked to the cover-up surrounding O’Keefe’s unfortunate death.
